Build Your Own Social Story
Social Characters is built on an open framework for serialized fiction through social media. Here's how the system works — and how you can build your own.
The Social Characters Framework
Social Characters proves that serialized fiction can work on social media — not as an experiment, but as a repeatable system. The framework behind it includes character profiling tools, a content engine, cross-platform scheduling workflows, and narrative architecture patterns that can be adapted to any genre, setting, or audience.
Whether you want to tell a romance, a thriller, a workplace drama, or a sci-fi epic through social media, the underlying principles are the same. Here are the six pillars:
Character Bible
Every character needs a full profile: backstory, voice rules, visual identity, platform-specific behavior, relationship map, and a 13-week season arc.
Cross-Character Choreography
Characters don't exist in isolation. Their timelines intersect. Events happen simultaneously from different perspectives. Silences carry meaning.
Content Calendar
Each week is pre-planned down to the post: exact caption, image prompt, hashtags, platform, posting time, and priority level. Schedule everything in advance.
Platform-Native Content
The same character speaks differently on LinkedIn vs. Threads. Instagram is visual, X is raw, LinkedIn is polished. Never cross-post the same content.
In-Character Engagement
Reply to comments in character. Like posts in character. The story extends into the comment section. Every interaction is a micro-scene.
Measure & Iterate
Track engagement per character, per platform, per post type. Let the data tell you which characters resonate and which content formats work.
What's Under the Hood
Social Characters is powered by SmartEngine — a custom-built content system that handles character management, post generation, image prompts, and scheduling workflows.
Posts in Season 1 across 7 characters, 4 platforms, 13 weeks
Distinct character voices, each with platform-specific behavior rules and forbidden patterns
Seasons planned across one year, with escalating stakes and deepening character relationships
